Consultancy Service for the Execution of a Feasibility Study for a Solid Waste Management Project in Qena Governorate

This study, financed through KfW (German development bank), aims at setting up a solid waste management system in Qena Governorate which is appropriate enough to solve environmental problems created by the existing situation of waste management and which is affordable by both the residents and the Government, since the Governmental financial support to this sector is dramatically decreasing and the concept of full recovery is adopted according to the Solid Waste Strategy set up by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency ( EEAA ). The role of the private and informal sectors is stressed upon and plans for encouraging and formalizing them are set up.
